Description Lyme Grass (Leymus Arenarius) 10 seeds (#2401)
Native to Northern Europe and noted for its incredibly beautiful blue-gray foliage, Blue Lyme Grass is a vigorous, semi-evergreen grass that grows in densely tufted, spreading clumps of gracefully arching, broad and flat, steel-blue leaves. In summer, it produces sturdy, upright, narrow, blue-gray flower spikes that turn light beige. Spreading aggressively by rhizomes, this grass needs to be used in very specific situations as it is an aggressive grass. Perfect for erosion control or as a groundcover in a wide sunny area, Blue Lyme Grass makes a good container plant where its invasiveness can be contained.
Grows up to 60-90 cm.
This grass tolerates a wide range of soils from wet to dry and full sun to partial shade. Tends to be less invasive in dry, clay soils.
Salt, drought tolerant and deer or rabbit resistant, this cool season grass provides all year around interest thanks to its evergreen foliage in mild winter areas.
Cut back foliage in fall. Divide from mid-spring to early fall.

GERMINATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Sow seeds indoors in March or April to produce plants large enough to move outdoors in specific locations after frost. Fill a seed flat with 2 parts potting soil and 1 part perlite. Mist the flat until it is evenly moist.
2. Sow the seeds on the surface of the soil mixture. Mist lightly and place the lid on the flat. Place the flat in a light room where the temperatures is at least 20C. Remove the lid for one hour per day to prevent mold.
3. Check the flat daily after the first week to look for germination. Sprouting usually occurs within two weeks, at which point you can grow the grasses without the lid. Thin the grasses to two inches apart and allow them to fill in until they are 5-7 cm high. Transplant them after the danger of frost has passed.
4. Plant the seed outside after the danger of frost has passed in your zone.
